A night out in nyc: Presence vs. Performance
Can we all agree I have a lot of interesting takes? It shouldn’t come as a surprise that, in public, I don’t say a peep. And there’s a reason for that.
There’s too much performance out there. Every man is trying to prove he’s the one with all the knowledge. Meanwhile, the person who actually has the breadth of wisdom, discernment, and lived experience is relegated to silence — and instead just focuses on presence.
I can be in downtown New York, my friend just left, and I’m about to call it a night. And somehow, I still get pulled into situations by ladies I don’t even know — usually to rescue them from performative men. Men bragging, doing magic, men overselling themselves, men reciting their entire LinkedIn page.
I don’t say anything.
Because I know the performative men will be upset if I spoke my mind.
I just laugh.
And they end up taking me home.
I save my best work for where it matters — in the market.
Presence is everything.
And the market knows it.
