Really Beat the Market
You should never become the richest man on Earth by relying on multiple business models that thrive on subsidies—EVs, solar, and space programs. That’s a bit too much. Here’s the good news: you can still be rich and successful, albeit not to the same extreme—but that’s the divide between the haves and the have-nots.
In fact, there should be a clear distinction between those who ascend through crony government connections and those who succeed purely through the private sector. It’s the same reason performance-enhancing drugs are banned in professional sports—because unfair advantages distort merit.
The fact that someone can become the richest individual in their country by leveraging government support is precisely why governments should not account for a large percentage of GDP.
