The Coming Wave of Domestic Deflation
There’s a large contingent that wants to undermine America’s dominance for various reasons, but none of their claims have ever proven true—especially the things people say about the U.S. dollar.
There’s so much misinformation out there.
Now they’re even talking about putting tariffs increases on Amazon. In Canada, it’s called an import tax—you pay more simply because it’s coming from another country, even the U.S. This is completely normal around the world, yet some people are trying to mislead Americans into thinking it’s something far worse than it actually is.
All of this is an economic incentive to insource, which is the best possible outcome for a country with the highest consumer spending per capita. Yet everyone is whining and complaining about what’s actually in their best interest.
The reality is that American monopolies created as a result of the trade war will still produce the best products—because the American consumer is the most sophisticated. And since the consumer is so sophisticated, they will demand high-quality products or choose to pay import taxes for superior foreign goods.
Because they are the most sophisticated and have the most depth, and because local companies will cater to their consumer base, their products will become attractive exports globally. They just need to commit to doing it seriously—and this will ensure long-term prosperity.
Companies like Costco via Kirkland make a perfect case example of how retail will be reshaped and remain cheap in the future.
