The Malacca Strait

Today, the strangest one was Malaysia at 25%. The White House has formally notified Malaysia of this decision, and the tariff will also apply to goods transshipped through Malaysia to avoid higher tariffs.

Malaysia is about to boom as it potentially becomes the cheapest place to transship.

Every single trader and shipper I know there is ethic Chinese in Malaysia.

FYI, the ethic Chinese have a stronghold of the economy with Indians and Malays making up rest.

Malaysia is a multi-ethnic country with three main groups:

• Bumiputera (including Malays and indigenous peoples): 70.4%

  • The largest subgroup is Malays (58.1%)

  • Other Bumiputera (mainly indigenous groups from Sabah and Sarawak): 12.3%

• Chinese: 22.4%

• Indians: 6.5%

Everything passing the Strait of Malacca (Malaysia and Singapore) is now the cheapest trading zones in the region.
