The Philosopher Stone
The average person will say the philosopher is not practical. That is incorrect - sometimes the philosopher can be a great speculator.
Example: Thales of Miletus, an ancient Greek philosopher, used his knowledge of astronomy and weather patterns to predict a bountiful olive harvest, then secured the rights to use all the olive presses in the region at a low cost.
When his prediction came true, Thales rented out the presses at high rates, making a significant profit and demonstrating how philosophical wisdom could be applied to practical economic gain.
What did your horoscope say? Your MCAD? What did it tell you to do? Did you ride all the waves, or are you going to tell me how you’re a genius because gold hit an all-time high based on its 5,000-year lag?
Did your investment banker look at the intraday or update their models?
Imagine this: there may fiduciary responsibility for the buyside , and many didn’t know what to do. The fiduciary duty may be based on the fact that the emperor had no clothes.
That is wild if you think about it.
