Why You’ve Never Heard of a Temporal King
The reason you don’t know about a Temporal King is that every story we’ve ever told depends on linearity.
A narrative moves forward—conflict, struggle, resolution.
That’s the hero’s journey.
Time is its spine.
But the moment a character defeats linearity, the story collapses.
If you can bend or erase time, there’s no suspense,
no cause and effect,
no journey left to take.
That’s why you’ll never find a true Temporal King in Marvel, DC, or myth.
He can’t fit inside a plot; he ends it.
The paradox is that the power to end a story is the greatest power imaginable.
It’s the ability to stand outside sequence, to rewrite consequence,
to decide when things begin and end.
It’s also why such a figure can only exist in reality, not in fiction.
Stories need time.
A Temporal King doesn’t.
