Human endeavor has always been about pushing the limits and pursuing greatness. In a fertile market, this drive results in exponential growth, as exemplified by the U.S.’s dominance in specialization and niches, such as the Olympics.
I cannot emphasize enough that this quest is about conquering nature, not conquering men. And who would want to conquer men anyway? Most are vile and disgusting creatures. It is the pursuit of conquering nature that truly inspires awe.
I find no pride in conquering an underling, having had hundreds work for me. It’s as insignificant as business cards exchanged after hours for status-building or discussions about headcount.
Our pursuit is the conquest of nature.
