One time, I originated an entire deal to source an equities fund in coordination with a major bank in China and Thailand. Out of a spirit of teamwork, I introduced the deal to my current employer, even though my scope of work primarily focused on corporate and investment banking and advisory. This equities fund was an entirely new venture for me.

However, my employer, whom I now refer to as a “passport bro,” deemed me unworthy of receiving a significant equity stake. Instead, they proceeded to draft the legal documents to seize control of the fund right out from under me.

One of the people who introduced me to the fund, a ‘Freemason,’ recognized the absurdity of the situation. Within a few weeks, he introduced me to another fund in the UK, where I became the investment advisor.

The fund tied to the major bank in China was ultimately dissolved in 2024.

Today, I impact global markets on an unimaginable scale and scope and that former employer unequivocally a passport bro with multiple affairs.
